Italy & Switzerland
POSTPONED TO October 2024
Have you always wanted to visit Italy to take in the art, architecture, and seaside air not to mention the wine and food? How about Switzerland with its Alpine views, individualistic spirit, and decadent chocolate? If so, this is the trip for you! All of the fun, and almost none of the planning. Coach Cheryl will handle the big details.
This isn’t your average tour.
Though we’ll be city-hopping, there are no tour buses here! Instead, we’ll travel like locals on trains, trams, and our own 2 feet. We’ll stay in small locally run hotels in the historic centers rather than glass monoliths far from the action. We’ll get to know our hosts and find favorite haunts in each city. Coach Cheryl already has a few to share.
We’ll travel freely with a loose itinerary to allow you maximum flexibility in how you spend your time.
Each city is yours! You choose what you see and when. Have your own adventure. Check out little alleyways and courtyards. Create your own unique experiences!
Coach Cheryl will head out each day too. You are welcome to join her when you like but you’ll get the most out of the trip if you venture off on your own for at least some of the days.
In order to travel close to the ground and blend in well, this trip is limited to 6 female adventurers. That’s right, women only on this trip!
Where Our Adventure Will Take Us:
Florence, Italy: Take in the Duomo, the Ponte Vecchio, and most importantly the little piazzas, alleyways, and art tucked away for the locals. Coach Cheryl will also take a day trip to Siena, a nearby Medieval walled city. You are free to join her if you like. Your journey that day would be covered by the train pass you’ll already have.
Cinque Terre, Italy: Part of the Italian Riveria, these 5 charming towns are perched along the hillside above the Mediterranean. Incredible views, beautiful walking paths, and quaint shops await your arrival.
Milan, Italy: A quick overnight in Milan will allow some fabulous window shopping, or actual shopping if you’re so inclined, as well as a visit to the famed Duomo Piazza. Perhaps some wine to go with that view?
Lucerne, Switzerland: A picturesque Swiss town complete with medieval structures, a gorgeous lake, breathtaking views, and some pretty fantastic shopping if that’s your thing. Coach Cheryl will share her favorite pub too, it’s a great place to cozy up for an evening.
OPTIONAL: Stay in Zurich overnight and fly out the next day. This is not included in the package price but can be arranged with Coach Cheryl in advance for a small fee or you may book a place on your own. Coach Cheryl will be staying in Zurich overnight to greet a new group of travelers the next day.
Concerned about paperwork, what to pack, what to see, etc.?
No worries, Coach Cheryl will help you through it all. From suggestions for flights to book to packing lists to best practices with money, phones, and documentation, she’ll help you feel ready for adventure before you leave home.

Each city is yours to explore however you like. If you want to wake early and wander the streets as the city wakes up, you can! If you want to chat the night away in a café enjoying fantastic wine, please do! If you want to take in all the big tourist spots with timed tickets, that’s fine too. Coach Cheryl will give you best practices and options but your time is yours to do with as you please. If that all seems too much, simply join Coach Cheryl as she ventures out each day. A Few More Details:
Why travel with Coach Cheryl?
Sometimes putting together a trip like this feels overwhelming or you simply don’t have time. In this case, she’s handled it all for you. Plus, she’s been to most of these cities and has traveled extensively through Europe. You don’t need to figure it all out because she already knows the lay of the land. All you need to do is decide how you want to spend your time each day. The cities are yours to enjoy at your own pace.
Coach Cheryl knows what’s possible as a result of a trip like this which is why she’s so passionate about providing as many avenues to these experiences as possible. You’ll come back a different person. This particular avenue means she gets to go too and she can’t wait!
Why travel in October?
There are several reasons this trip is booked in October. First, there will be fewer crowds because high season for travel to Europe is in the summer. Since there are fewer travelers, prices are lower including airfare, lodging, and some attraction tickets. However, it’s not low season yet so places will be open and ready to welcome you. Finally, the weather will still be generally decent at this time of year with an average of 1-2 days of rain per week. Average high/low in Florence 70/51, Siena 69/50, Cinque Terre 69/56, Milan 64/53, Lucerne 58/44.
What does “traveling close to the ground” mean?
It means that we’ll blend in as best we can. We’ll travel on trains, trams, and by walking even with our luggage. This allows us access to visit and stay in places cars just can’t go. These cities are made for walking, so we will. We’ll travel as lightly as we can while still being comfortable. If we do it well, we’ll be mistaken for locals, at least occasionally.
